Yesterday we read in the news that WhatsApp has recently launched a payment solution in Brazil with views to expanding into another emergent markets such as India, Indonesia and Mexico.

People in Brazil using WhatsApp will be able to send money to one another for free through the app as shown in the image below:

This move doesn't come as a surprise given Facebook is trying to add more e-commerce to it's platforms such as WhatsApp and Instagram.

Although we like to see payments being more accessible by everyone, for free, specially in such fragmented markets, we do wonder who would be happy to share their banking details to Facebook and their ever-growing platforms. Food for thought.
